WHAT WE DO

Mission

SUPERBANDS is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to building a community of hope that lives at the intersection of mental health and music. Our mission is to raise global awareness for the youth mental health crisis and provide those who struggle with the key resources and support they need. By bringing young music fans closer to their favorite artists and bands through thoughtfully curated VIP experiences and virtual events, and uniting them through the honest conversations about the soundtracks of their lives, we strive to remind everyone to ‘stay strong and keep rockin’ on’.

OUR STORY

I believe in the power of music, and the power of community

Creating Superbands was my way of combining these two things into something that I believe has the power to change the world. I’ve experienced my own difficult times, and have seen the people around me struggle with their inner demons, but one thing that never fails is the power of music. My hope is to create a global phenomenon, shedding light on resilience and strength. Thank you for believing in this dream with me.

WHAT SUPERBANDS MEANS TO ME…

At age 13, you could find me at a dimly-lit Jonas Brothers concert, singing my heart out to lyrics that meant so much to me. Regardless of my home life and the rough days at school amidst bullying and struggling to fit in, concerts were my safe place and music is what saved me. I would count down the days until the next album, until the next concert. My after school life consisted of watching band interviews and flipping through pages of teen magazines to read the endless articles of these superstars. SUPERBANDS is me bringing the community of hope that I once longed for to anyone who feels alone, to anyone who needs a reminder that life does get better if you keep holdin’ on.

“I joined SUPERBANDS in January 2020 to try and make a change. I’ve dealt with mental health issues for almost a decade now and have always found solace in my favorite bands, so I know first hand how powerful music can be on your mind. If I can try and be a voice for all of us who have relied on music, I’ll do it!”

“Music is a huge part of my life and is an incredibly important tool in helping me keep mentally healthy. The mission to help the lives of young people through the power of music is something that I believe everyone can get behind and relate to. Mental health is a growing concern for all generations and is still not being taken seriously enough by governments and wider communities - which makes organizations like SUPERBANDS even more vital.”

Events Coordinator

“Mental health has been a huge impact on my life. When I was thirteen, my sister was diagnosed with depression and my brother committed suicide. Music helped raise my family’s spirits and bring us together. Ever since, my career goal was to focus on removing the negative stigma of openly talking about mental health among youth and families. SUPERBANDS gives me the opportunity to reach out to youth, share my story, and meet others who love music as much as I do!”

Executive Director

“I am a huge advocate when it comes to taking care of our mental and emotional health and well-being, which are often invisibilized by society. Having experienced depression, suicidal ideations, and severe bullying related traumas, music was where I was able to immerse myself to dream of better days. I strongly believe in the mission of SUPERBANDS and its goal to intersect music, mental health, and community support.”
